The teenager pleaded guilty to four offences in court

A burglar who tried to steal from a victim just a few doors down from his own home has been remanded in custody.

Billy Treays of Thistle Road in Gravesend stood accused of burgling a house along the same road on Saturday, July 29, before driving away in his victim’s Vauxhall Astra.

Patrolling officers tried to pull the 18-year-old over, but as he sped away, a pursuit began.

The chase ended in nearby Roehampton Crescent, but the driver had left the scene.

Treays was arrested on Tuesday, August 1, after he was identified as a suspect.

He was charged with four offences and on Wednesday admitted to burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance, when he appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court.

The burglar was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court later this month.

No court date has been set.
