Burst water mains have closed a main transport route for the second time in six months.

The A227 Wrotham Road could be closed for up to two days after the water main burst this morning, opening a hole in the road opposite Leylands Farm, between Culverstone and Meopham Green.

This comes six months after the A227 was closed for two weeks at the start of the year when a Southern Water pipe burst.

A statement from Southern Water states: “We are investigating the current interruption to water supply in this area. Engineers are currently investigating the situation. We apologise for the inconvenience.”

Diversions through Longfield, West Kingsdown and Darenth are advised.
