The incident happened in the early hours of the morning

Police are appealing for witnesses after reports a dog a walker was sexually assaulted in Gravesend overnight.

The victim spoke with the suspect, who was with a group of men, outside a shop near the junction of Bentley Street and Milton Road at around 12.15am on Wednesday, July 5.

After speaking for around 20 minutes, the suspect walked the woman and her dog to an alleyway just off Bentley Street, where police believe he touched her inappropriately at around 12.45am.

A cordon was set up at the scene as police investigated on Wednesday morning, but this has been stepped down.

No arrests have been made, though enquiries are ongoing.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Anyone with information can phone Kent Police on 01474 366149 quoting XY/03216/17.
