A WOMAN was rushed to hospital after a car exploded in a quiet village.

A WOMAN was rushed to hospital after a car exploded in a quiet village.

Emergency services were called to Vigo, near Meopham following the explosion at 1.11pm today (March 5) where one woman had serious injuries.

She was taken to Darent Valley Hospital where she remained at the time of going to press.

Harvel Road, Commority Road and Southfield Road have been closed by police.

Army bomb disposal experts are due to arrive at the scene to investigate as a precaution before police can begin forensic examinations.
