Caravan ablaze in Horton Kirby lay-by is destroyed by fire

The fire started earlier this afternoon

Firefighters spent less than 15 minutes putting out a caravan which had burst into flames in Horton Kirby this afternoon (Tuesday).

Crews were called at 1.18pm to the caravan which was on fire in a lay-by on Skinney Lane.

Arriving by 1.20pm, crews tackled the flames using a high-pressure hose reel and had the fire out by 1.33pm.

By then however, the caravan had been completely destroyed.

Duty of care was handed over to Kent Police, who had closed the road due to smoke from the fire.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious.
