A driver was ambushed by another motorist who catapulted an object at his eye as he drove along a road in Bean.

The incident happened on Thursday, November 15, between 9am and 10am, as the victim was driving in his van in the High Street end of Shellbank Lane.

He was overtaken by a white Ford Transit van which was, he said, driving in a suspicious manner, and then parked up by the side of the road.

When he stopped and leaned out of his window to take a look, somebody jumped out of the van and fired an object from a catapult. It hit him in the eye and he needed treatment at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
