Crews were called out at 8pm yesterday

Fire struck an abandoned disco and banqueting hall for the second time in 12 months on Thursday.

Firefighters say the cause of a blaze at the derelict Woodlands site, off Hilda May Avenue is “not yet known”, after spending nearly two hours battling flames.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it had referred the fire to Kent Police, but crews had not returned this morning for a further investigation.

Crews were called to the scene just after 8pm, with three fire engines, a height unit and a support vehicle both all sent to the scene.

The height unit and support vehicle were both stood down as crews battled the flames.

By 10pm, firefighters had put out the fire.

No casualties were reported.

We have approached Kent Police for comment.

In November last year, the building was struck by fire sparking a police investigation.
