Striker Charlie Sheringham marked his return to Dartford with a goal that capped off an impressive 3-0 victory over Gateshead on Saturday.

The son of former England and Manchester United goal scorer, Teddy, arrived at Princes Park on loan for a second spell last week and wasted little time in finding his feet.

A quiet first-half in north Kent led to few chances for both teams as snow and bitter winds made playing conditions difficult.

However, the second half warmed up a little with the introduction of substitute Ryan Hayes, who opened the scoring on 66 minutes with a low shot.

Less than 10 minutes later and he doubled his and Dartford’s tally with a lovely curling effort from Charlie Sheringham’s pass.

Hayes capped off a lively cameo by creating an opening for Sheringham, who struck with four minutes remaining to put the result beyond any doubt.

The result leaves Dartford in 12th position, just one point from Cambridge in ninth place. They next travel to 10th place Hereford tomorrow night.
