POLICE are warning residents not to let unexpected visitors into their homes following a distraction burglary.

A resident from Fairseat Lane, just outside Vigo, was approached by a man as he returned from a shopping trip last Friday.

Detective Sergeant Jason Booth said: "Please check with the organisation a caller says they are from before you think about letting them in or ring the police.

"Genuine callers will understand this and won't mind waiting.'"

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police on 01732 379 217 quoting crime reference 5134 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
