FORENSIC experts are working to identify a decomposed body discovered in woodland.

The corpse, believed to be an adult man, was found by members of the public at the end of Canal Road, Higham, last Wednesday just before 4pm.

Police were called to the scene and cordoned off the area for more than a day as they searched for clues to the

person's identity and cause of death.

The body was then taken to Darent Valley Hospital for further examination.

Senior investigating officer DCI Dave Withers said: "We believe at this time the body is that of an adult man but until we can establish the cause of death we must treat this as unexplained."

Police said the details were delayed by the condition the body was found in. Until a cause of death is identified, it is being treated as unexplained.
