Counting begins this morning for the Kent County Council elections, with 84 seats available.

We have reporters at both Dartford and Gravesham councils and will be live tweeting from @northkentnews using the hashtag #kccelection and giving frequent updates on this website.

The county council has an annual budget of £1.6billion to spend on more than 300 services such as schools, roads, libraries and parks.

The 2009 election yielded just a 37 per cent turnout.
