A MEMORIAL service is due to be held today for a husband who died in a car crash on his way home after celebrating his 23rd wedding anniversary.

Darren Francomb, of Timber Bank, Vigo, near Gravesend, was among three people who died in the crash on the A20 at Wrotham Hill on December 20.

The service at St Mary the Virgin Church, in Stansted, will begin at midday today and follows a private funeral.

Mr Francomb, 48, and his wife Hilary, who survived the crash, were returning from lunch with friends when their Toyota Hi-Lux collided with a black Mercedes travelling in the opposite direction.

James Mealings, 65, of Fairby Lee, and his companion, Joan Hutchins, 78, of Eversly Avenue, Barenhurst, who were travelling in the Mercedes, both died at the scene.

Mr Francomb, who had three sons, Ben, 22, Lewis, 19, and Elliot, 18, was a director of DLD Joinery, based in Powerscroft Road, Footscray.
