Tributes have poured in for a Gravesend man whose body was found in the town centre last week.

Piotr Binkowski, 41, was found behind the Clarendon Hotel on Royal Pier Road on Thursday, June 22, a hearing at Maidstone’s Archbishop’s Palace heard on Wednesday.

Following the discovery of his body, a large police and ambulance presence swamped the town, with cordons set up to investigate the cause of his death.

A postmortem examination gave the cause of his death as hanging.

It is believed the builder, originally from Poland, was a father and an uncle.

A week on since his death, Mr Binkowski’s Facebook page has been turned into a site for friends and relatives to pay their respects.

Dozens of tributes have been left on the page in English and Polish, describing the 41-year-old as “a lovely gentleman”.

Another message read: “Always in memory, mate. My condolences to your family.”
