Dartford elects John Burrell as new mayor

He has been a member of Dartford Council for five years

Stone ward councillor John Burrell has been elected as the new Mayor of Dartford for the coming year.

Cllr Burrell became the 38th mayor of Dartford following a meeting of the council on Wednesday.

The former sales director has been a member of Dartford Borough Council since 2011, and a member of Stone Parish Council for the last eight years.

The new mayor has Freedom of the City of London after his charitable work during his working life.

Alongside the new mayoress, wife Eija, Cllr Burrrell has chosen his mayoral charities for 2016/2017.

They are:

• ellenor

• Cancer Research UK

• Darent Valley Hospital’s Cancer Fighting Fund

• Darent Valley Hospital with a special focus on juvenile diabetes

• Arrow Riding Centre

The Deputy Mayor will be councillor Rosanna Currans and she will be escorted by councillor Denzil Reynolds.
