Crews battle fire at Dartford warehouse

Some 10 fire engines are at the scene of a Dartford fire which broke out this morning.

The fire started at 5.46am at the ground floor of a coffee warehouse and factory building on the Riverside Industrial Estate.

The alarm was initially raised by an employee inside the building and there are no reported casualties.

The building is roughly 40m x 40m in size and firefighters are working hard to prevent the blaze from spreading.

Around 50 residents living in nearby flats were evacuated for a short time but have now been advised to return inside.

The fire service’s technical rescue team are on site and using a drone to get a view of the incident from above.

People living and working nearby are advised to closed windows and doors due to smoke in the area.

Crews are making progress with the fire and trying to prevent it spreading further within the building, using main jets.

They are also working with police to manage traffic in the area.

Nearby resident Charlotte Farrugia posted a video of the footage on Twitter, saying “huge fire on Central Road in Dartford at UTC coffee”.

The video shows the extent of the blaze.
