The footbridge is to be temporarily closed for refurbishment

A shortcut to Dartford station will be closed for up to ten weeks as the council provides essential maintenance work.

The footbridge, built next to Wickes car park on Overy Street and crossing to Station Approach, will be closed from September 21.

Alternative routes will be signposted through Mill Pond Road, Overy Street, Home Gardens and Hythe Street.

The bridge was built in the 1980’s and is beginning to show signs of wear and tear. During the works a new non-slip service will be laid on the bridge.

Councillor Jeremy Kite, Leader of the Council, said: “The bridge is in need of a little TLC to make sure it remains safe and sturdy for years to come.

“We know it’s a pain but during the closure please allow a little extra time to ensure you can catch your train.”
