Dartford gas leak leads to road closures

A gas leak near the Dartford Crossing has led to road closures around the area.

Gas company SGS are carrying out emergency repair work at the Blue Star roundabout on A225 Princes Road, Dartford.

To maintain safety while repairs to the gas main continue, Princes Road near to Oakwood Close has been closed.

The roundabout is inaccessible to traffic from the west and from the south and motorists from north of the roundabout can only turn east.

Traffic from the east can only head south.

Signed diversions are in place for motorists.

It is not yet known how soon work will be completed.

A spokeswoman from Kent Fire and Rescue Serivce (KFRS) said: “At 1:42am KFRS was called to Princes Road, Dartford to reports of a gas leak.

“A gas main had been punctured and as a precaution crews evacuated six nearby properties and petrol station staff.

“The gas board attended to carry out temporary repair. There were no reported injuries.”
