Dartford residents raised £1,100 to try and support the British Heart Foundation (BHF) last month.

It was National Heart Month and fundraising activities included a rock up in red day held by Dartford Borough Council, NHS health checks in the Priory and Orchards shopping centres and an appearance from Dartford’s vintage fire engine in the High Street.

Cllr Ann Allen, lead member for health, said, “It was great to see so many local people supporting National Heart Month and organising their own events. I hope that the fundraising doesn’t stop there and keen swimmers take part in the sponsored swim coming up on Saturday.”

Louise Parkes, fundraising director for BHF, said: “A huge thanks to the people in Dartford Heart Town for their fantastic fundraising efforts.

“National Heart Month is a great opportunity for everyone to think about how many lives are affected by heart disease. All money raised will help us to continue saving lives.”
