The Green Spice picked up the award at the British Curry Awards

A Dartford restaurant scooped up top prize at the British Curry Awards last week.

On November 30, Green Spice, in Green Street Green, Dartford, won the Best in London Suburbs award at the British Curry Awards hosted at Battersea Evolution in London.

The evening saw celebrity guests including Great British Bake Off runner-up Tamal Ray and Channel 4 News presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

Partner at Green Spice, Nure Russell, explained his joy at receiving the award.

He said: “We were overwhelmed and very happy, we’ve been nominated for the award before, but have always been the bridesmaid and never the bride.

“We must have been doing something right this year, we’ve been focussing much more on quality over quantity.

“We’ve been waiting 11 years for this award, we were surprised not because we think we don’t deserve it, but because we were sure it wouldn’t be our year, but it was.”
