The Dartford Tunnel was closed for almost two hours this morning following a rush hour collision.

A driver was left with a suspected broken nose after three vehicles collided, with Kent Police and paramedics called to the scene in the east-bore tunnel at around 9.20am.

With the crossing into Essex shut, traffic built up quickly and tailbacks on the M25 reached Junction 3 for the Swanley Interchange.

Amidst the chaos, frustrated drivers took to Twitter. Lucy Stone said: “If you’re planning on going through the Dartford Tunnel today, well don’t! #Gridlock”.

The tunnel re-opened at around 10.45am. There were no further injuries.
