Ebbsfleet defeated in Dover grudge match

Last night’s Kent grudge match between Dover Athletic and Ebbsfleet United ended in defeat for Steve Brown’s new club.

Dover won 2-1 at the Crabbie to make it two wins in two in the fledgling Conference South, while Fleet are still seeking their first victory of the new season.

There were six former Dover players in the visiting team’s squad, and Billy Bricknell and Craig Rance both received less than welcome receptions after they came off the bench.

The home side secured the points through a half-volley from Tom Murphy 20 minutes from time. Summer signing Anthony Cook had equalised after Richard Orlu had given the Whites the lead.

Brown felt his side deserved at least a point and they travel to Eastbourne Borough on Saturday (August 24) looking for their first victory of the season.
