Ebbsfleet United held to 1-1 draw as Salmon returns to haunt Stonebridge Road

Ebbsfleet United were held to a 1-1 bore draw against Bath City on Non-League Day.

Defender Will Salmon returned to haunt his former side at Stonebridge Road, grabbing his first senior goal to level the game and leave both sides with a single point.

Fleet’s midfield took hold of the game after a slow start and Anthony Cook’s wide runs probed the Bath defence time and time again.

Eventually the home side went a goal up as Daryl McMahon’s free-kick was met by a high-flying Jason Mellor to head home after 25 minutes.

Shortly after, as Fleet looked for a second, goalkeeper Jason Mellor was on hand to prevent a Billy Bricknell effort from 25 yards.

But it was sloppy defending in the second-half that would ultimately cost Fleet the victory, as the side failed to clear a free kick - leaving Salmon free to prod home the equaliser.

Neither side could force a winner in the final minutes, and The Fleet fans will have to wait a little longer for the first home win of the season.

They next face Basingstoke Town away on Saturday.
