Ebbsfleet United on verge of relegation

There was no baked beans spillage on this trip north but following to defeat at Hyde last night Ebbsfleet United are virtually certain to play their football in the Blue Square Bet South next season.

The home side took the lead two minutes before half-time through Matthew Blinkhorn after Liam Enver-Marum had missed a good chance for Fleet.

The visitors received a boost when Hyde’s Adam Griffin was sent off on the stroke of the interval but they could not find a way past the hosts’ goalkeeper David Carnell.

Ebbsfleet are second bottom of the table, 12 points behind fifth bottom Lincoln City with four games to play.

Their goal difference is significantly worse than Lincoln’s so baring a minor miracle they will be relegated after two seasons back in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
