The hospice provides end of life care to adults and children

Inspectors have given an end of life care charity top marks after it received praise from patients.

Care Quality Commission inspectors visited ellenor in July for three days, during which they reviewed how the charity provides end-of-life, cancer and respite care in the north west Kent and Bexley areas.

In a draft report revealed this month, inspectors wrote: “the service provided outstanding end of life care where children and adults were enabled to experience a comfortable, dignified and pain-free death in the place of their choice when possible.”

Patients added their own praise for the service, saying staff “went the extra mile when providing care and support”.

Claire Cardy, chief executive for ellenor says: “We are delighted to have received this ‘outstanding’ rating from the CQC, the highest that the regulator can award.

“This is testament to the dedication of our fantastic team of expert staff and volunteers. We regularly receive positive feedback from our patients and their families, but it’s a huge accolade to have the quality of care and compassion recognised by this inspection too. Our ethos is always to provide the best quality personalised care and support and enable families to make the most of the time they have together.”

A full report is expected to be published within the next three weeks.
