The fire started last night in Northfleet

Residents around Rembrandt Drive in Northfleet heard explosions on Wednesday night after a fire started in a garage.

Locals took to social media to report of ‘explosions’ at the garage, where a number of gas cylinders were inside.

Local residents called in firefighters at around 11.15pm.

Crews dampened the flames using a main jet, hose reel and compressed air foam.

They then remained at the scene of the fire through the night to allow the cylinders to vent after they had cooled.

Shortly after 7.30am, firefighters left the scene.

It is not clear how the fire started.
