A man and woman were involved in a collision with a white Mercedes Vito van on Heath Lane

Kent Police is appealing for witnesses after a van collided with pedestrians on Heath Lane, Darford, leaving a man dead.

The incident occurred near the car park at about 7.50pm on New Year’s Eve.

A man and woman were walking in the direction of Princes Road when they were involved in a collision with a white Mercedes Vito van heading the same way.

The man – a 59-year-old from the local area – was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been informed.

The woman he was walking with was not seriously injured.

No injuries were reported for the driver of the van and no arrests have been made.

Officers from the serious collision investigation unit would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.

They are particularly keen to speak to the occupants of a vehicle that travelled in the opposite direction to the van at the time of the collision and who may have seen what happened.
