Dozens of firefighters were sent to tackle a huge blaze in a field in north Kent this afternoon.

Flames engulfed a five-hectare expanse of corn in Hawley Road, Hawley, near Dartford, at about 2.30pm.

But after around 30 firefighters were sent to the scene, within an hour they had put the blaze out.

No injuries were reported and it is not known how the fire started.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “They have done an amazing job.”
