Four fire engines tackled a Gravesend roof fire after a house was struck by lightning on Saturday night (July 27).

They rushed to a house in Vale Road just before 8pm and it took more than six and a half hours to extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters contained the fire to the roof and prevented it from spreading further and used hose reel jets to tackle the flames.

There were no reports of any injuries.
