Promotion-chasing Ebbsfleet United comprehensively beat Staines Town 3-0 at Stonebridge Road.

First half goals from Billy Bricknell, Daryl McMahon and Anthony Acheampong made the difference as Fleet consolidated third place in the Conference South.

Anthony Cook supplied all the goals, with the first arriving after just five minutes.

The winger’s cross found Bricknell who steered in his 12th league goal of the season.

Fleet’s lead was doubled just after the half hour mark, Cook teeing up Daryl McMahon from a free kick, and the skipper made no mistake.

Cook was again the architect before half-time as his corner was powerfully headed in by Acheampong and the game was over as a contest.

The home side were completely dominant and could have scored more than the three goals they ended up with but Bricknell and Dean Rance wasted further chances to extend the lead.

Club captain Paul Lorraine returned for Fleet following a groin injury but the afternoon was somewhat marred by an injury to striker Michael Thalassitis, who went to hospital with a suspected broken wrist.

Fleet play Whitstable Town in the Kent Senior Cup tomorrow night and their next league game is at home to Farnborough on March 1.
