THIS is the first picture of the man found guilty of murdering a Sikh taxi driver by running him over in his own cab.

Luke Andrew Aujila, 21, formerly of Dorchester Road, Gravesend was convicted for the murder of Gian Chand Bajar at Maidstone Crown Court today. (28)

Father of five Mr Bajar, of Darnley Road Gravesend, died from his injuries after he was found lying in St Benedict's Avenue in May last year.

Mr Aujila had previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He will be sentenced tomorrow (29)

After the verdict outside court the Bajar family issued a joint statement, saying: "We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the police and investigating team led by Mr Atkinson for their exceptional efforts and hard work to catch the perpetrators involved in our father's murder.

"We appreciate the skill, diligence and professionalism they have displayed both during and after our father's murder investigation.

"We would also like to thank the local community, including the taxi drivers' and many, many ordinary members of the local community for their support, kind words and best wishes throughout this difficult period.
