Flats fire tackled

THIRTY firefighters battled a small flat blaze in a nine-storey block as nearby residents evacuated the building. The blaze at Homemead Court, Gravesend, which contains 100 flats, started at about 1am on Friday. No-one was hurt, and everyone in the area

THIRTY firefighters battled a small flat blaze in a nine-storey block as nearby residents evacuated the building.

The blaze at Homemead Court, Gravesend, which contains 100 flats, started at about 1am on Friday.

No-one was hurt, and everyone in the area of the fire managed to escape before the six fire crews and two support units including a height vehicle arrived.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
