A NEW five-a-side football centre is due to hold its grand opening tonight.

Fleet Fives Soccer Centre, part of Fleet Leisure and Sports Club on Nelson Road, Northfleet, will have an opening ceremony from 7.30pm onwards.

An exhibition match featuring youth players from Ebbsfleet United will be the main event.

Fleet Fives consists of four floodlit five-a-side 3G artificial pitches and a seven-a-side floodlit grass pitch.

Fleet Leisure general manager Sandra Thomas said: "With the World Cup just around the corner this is the perfect location for playing football and then relaxing in the bar

afterwards to watch the big matches.

"It will also allow us to develop closer partnerships with schools and other local initiatives."

Also present at the opening ceremony will be Councillor Laura Hryniewicz, Gravesham Borough Council cabinet member for Young Graveshamand representatives from Ebbsfleet United, Lloyds TSB and Heineken.
