Blaze destroys buildings at property in Harvel

More than 40 firefighters battled for about three and a half hours to extinguish a huge fire destroying a series of outbuildings at a property in Harvel.

Crews from Dartford, Thames-side, Horton Kirby, Maidstone and Larkfield attended the fire, on Leywood Road just before noon on Monday.

Using main jets, hose reels jets and water from an open source at the site, the teams were able to put out the blaze at 3.30pm, but not before it had totally destroyed a number of buildings at the site, currently under development.

Police closed the rural road during the fire fighting operation.
