A new weekly running event will be coming to Central Park.

Dartford Council has teamed up with parkrun to organise a free 5km run.

The parkrun events will begin on July 26, taking place every Saturday at 9am after that, and are open to runners of all ages and abilities.

The first run will be started by Council Leader Jeremy Kite.

Cllr Kite said: “I’m proud that we’ve been able to help parkrun set up here in Central Park. There are a lot of keen runners in the Borough who I’m sure will benefit from this new free weekly event.”

Jacky MacDonald, parkrun UK Ambassador for Kent, said, “We’d like to thank Dartford Borough Council and parkrun’s sponsors for their funding and help in setting up this event.”

Richey Estcourt, event director, added, “We’re looking forward to seeing lots of local runners at the parkrun from 26 July onwards. We’re also looking for people to help marshal the events so if you’d like to get involved as a volunteer, please get in touch.”

Children aged four to 11 will need to run with a responsible adult.

Runners wishing to take part must register in advance at and download a barcode so their run can be timed.
