The funeral for Cllr Mike Snelling, the former Gravesham council leader, will be held on Thursday 8 at 11am at St John the Baptist Church, Meopham.

A reception will follow at Woodville Halls at the Civic Centre in Gravesend.

The family have requested no black to be worn at the service but to dress cheerfully and have also requested no flowers.

Donations can be made to two of Mike’s favourite charities.

Cheques can be made out to: The Rotary Club of Gravesend & Meopham and also payable to REACH Charity Ltd (the association for children with upper limb deficiency).

Both should be endorsed on the back “In memory of Mike Snelling” and sent to the funeral directors Lewis Solomon, 19, Darnley Road, Gravesend.

The flag on the Civic Centre will be flown at half mast on November 8 as a formal mark of respect.
