Gad’s Hill pupils take farm visit to learn about harvest

Children from Gad’s Hill School enjoyed a trip to Higham village’s Gad’s Hill Farm as part of their study of harvest.
The small arable and fruit farm is just down the road from the school, and the Year 1 and 2 pupils were given a tour by farmer Bill Warnett.
They learnt about how fruit trees were planted and grown, and when fruit is ripe and ready to pick and eat.
Mike Patey, the Year 2 teacher, said: “Our children loved visiting Mr Warnett’s farm and gained firsthand experience of the value of eating fresh food and discovering where it comes from.”
