A 53-year-old woman who is thought to have been killed by a stallion in a field attended Darent Valley Hospital the evening before her body was found, a spokesman has confirmed.

Kent Police said the body was discovered in the field in Darenth Wood Road, near to Darent Valley Hospital, in Dartford, at about 10am on Friday.

The death of the woman is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

Today a spokesman for Darent Valley Hospital said: “We offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the lady who was killed in this tragic incident.

“She came into the Emergency Department at Darent Valley late on Thursday evening, was assessed and was admitted to our Clinical Decisions Unit. Doctors advised her to stay in hospital. However, she took the decision to leave.”

She is thought to have left in the early hours of Friday morning. The hospital refused to reveal her condition and why she was advised to remain.

A post-mortem has been carried out but findings have not yet been released.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “It is believed that a stallion in the field where the body was found may have caused her death.”
