Gravesend mum jailed for stealing purse

A Gravesend mother who avoided prison in July after stealing money from charity donation boxes has now been jailed for stealing a purse.

Michelle Roberts, 32, of Ascot Road, was arrested on Sunday August 5 after police received a report that a woman in Northfleet had her purse stolen.

She failed to attend court on Tuesday September 4 and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Police arrested her on Thursday 6 and she pleaded guilty via virtual court from Northfleet police station to Medway Magistrates Court.

Magistrates jailed her for 180 days - 60 days running concurrently for stealing the purse and the 180 days which were suspended when she was sentenced for fraud in July.
