This year’s Gravesend on Yer Bike event is hoping to attract a 1000 riders this year, building on the 850 who took part last year.

Riders are already signing up for the event on Sunday, April 28, choosing one of three routes of 15, 30 and 45 miles, all of which extend out and back from Gravesend’s riverside and cater for families through to serious riders.

The ride is organised by Gravesend Rotary Club, with many participants dressing up for the cycle. Since it began in 1986, the event has raised more than £500,000 for charity.

Rotary Club President Chris Wraight said: “It would be great to see a thousand riders take part in this, the 27th year we have organised the event. We need to find those extra people to get on their bikes.”

The EllenorLions Hospices are the main beneficiaries but a further 20 charities also receive donations from the event.
