Archant

The panto season has well and truly arrived and Gravesend is no exception as men in drag join damsels in distress at The Woodville.

Beauty and the Beast is the chosen story this year at the theatre in Woodville Place where children have been screaming “it’s behind you” since Saturday.

The show sees a handsome prince cursed to spend his life transformed into a hideous beast.

Can the ‘glamorous’ Dame Dorothy Do-It and her witless son, Willy Do-It, outwit the evil Eugene to lift the curse?

Steven Fortune, who plays this year’s dame, says: “It’s the frocks and the faces and the costumes and the fun. I just love it.”

There are numerous time slots for the panto, including morning shows at 10.30am and showings at noon, 1.45pm, 2.30pm, 4pm and 6.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 and can be booked at woodville.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01474 337 774.
