Gravesend teen Tamera Foster through to X Factor live shows

Gravesend teenager Tamera Foster returned from Antigua with more than a suntan - she has made it through to the final 12 in the X Factor after judge Nicole Scherzinger selected her to appear in the live shows.

Tamera currently stands at 9/4 favourite with the bookies to win the competition check out this video of her singing Stay by Rihanna.

The 16-year-old said: “It’s such a crazy feeling. I’m so lucky. How many other girls my age have the chance to do something like this?”

Former Pussycat Doll Nicole picked her along with Hannah Barrett and Abi Alton in the show aired last night to represent the girls in front of live television audiences.

She has courted controversy along her X Factor route, including apologising over a police caution she received for assault and reportedly angering ITV bosses for signing endorsement deals while still on the programme.

Nicole admitted she is taking a chance on Tamera but thinks she has the ability to be a superstar - and the musical theatre student has already drawn comparisons to former X Factor winner Leona Lewis.

She has moved into a mansion worth £5million with the other 11 acts, previously owned by Lionel Ritchie.

Tamera, who lives at home with her mother, said: “I’m going to love every second of it! I think the thing I’m most excited about is being in front of an audience.

“Ever since Bootcamp I’ve realised what a buzz it gives you and I can’t wait to feel that way again.”
