The council achieved the Investors in People Gold standard award for the second time

Gravesham Borough Council has achieved the Investors in People Gold standard for the second time – placing the council in the top tier of employers.

IIP is a framework which sets out a standard for improved people management strategies and is a standard that is recognised internationally.

In 2012 the council achieved the top award and retained its Gold status after a thorough appraisal by an external assessor last month involving a hundred employees.

Only 16,000 organisations have IIP status and of those 16,000 only 3% achieved the Gold award.

Chief executive David Hughes said: “Staff interviewed conveyed that Gravesham Borough Council is a great employer and a great place to work.

“While we shall continue to strive to get even better, we are rightly proud of the level of service and commitment shown by all who work for the council.

“This award recognises that not only is the council a good place to work but that it is among the elite group of employers in the world.”
