Gravesham snow updates

Gravesham Borough Council is keeping residents up to date on which services are affected by the weather.
The council’s website will be regularly updated – www.gravesham.gov.uk/winter, as well as its Twitter and Facebook pages.
Rubbish, recycling garden waste and trade waste collection services
Today (Thursday March 1) crews will be out for the normal scheduled collections, so please put out your refuse and recycling as normal.
A near full service is anticipated, but as road conditions remain poor in some areas there may be some disruption.
If your bin was due to be collected on Tuesday or Wednesday this week please continue to leave it out.
The council are working on plans to take into account the deteriorating forecast.
If you are waiting for your garden waste bin to be collected please take your bin back in and put it out on your next scheduled collection date.
A further update will be given as soon as possible on the progress that’s being made throughout the day.
Gravesham Council are sorry for any inconvenience caused and once again thank you for your understanding during this adverse weather.
Collections of bulky waste have been suspended, and customers will be contacted to reschedule the collections.
Due to the bad weather, collection and delivery service of sharps boxes and medical bags has been disrupted.
The council are working hard to try and get to as many people as possible.
Tuesday’s Full Council meeting has been cancelled due to the weather conditions.
The meeting has been re-scheduled for Tuesday March 6.
Rearrangements are currently being made for the Community Services Cabinet Committee which was due to be held on the same day.
Crews are out gritting areas of the borough including car parks, town centre, shopping parades and sheltered units.
All car parks are open as normal.
Civil Enforcement Officers are currently gritting the walk ways and around the pay and display machines.
Parks, play areas and open spaces
Parks and play areas are open as normal.
Teams are out gritting the main footpaths.
The council anticipate being able to attend all prearranged appointments.
The customer service department, including the phones and The Gateway, is open as usual.
Gravesend Borough Market
The market is open and will operate normally, but with some disruption.
The theatre is open as usual and will be putting on a ‘snow day’ film at 2pm today (film TBC). Tickets cost £3. Please book in advance.
Cascades and Cygnet leisure centres will close at 8pm today.
