Two children from Dartford and Gravesend have been named among the winners for naming Kent County Council’s new mini grtters.

In October, 60 gritters and five mini gritters began preparing for the winter months, taking part in a dry run of gritting routes as they prepare to grit more than 2,500 miles of Kent’s roads.

Following the run, a competition was set up for children to name Kent’s mini gritters, with five-year-old Russell Sandoe from Gravesend among the winners, naming his True Grit.

Meanwhile Phoebe Buckland-Russel, also five, named hers Little Grit.

Children were awarded the “Gritificate of Congritulation” at KCC’s Aylesford depot and had the chance to sit behind the wheel of their named gritter.
