Kent Police are appealing for witnesses after a Gravesend man was sprayed with a noxious substance by a group of men who had kicked a hole in his front door.

The victim, a man in his 50s, was awoken by the group in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police believe three or four men were kicking the front door of the man’s home, on Parrock Street, near the junction with William Street.

A spokesperson from Kent Police said: “The man attempted to fend them off before they allegedly sprayed a substance through the hole, causing him to suffer a stinging sensation to his eyes.

“He then set his house alarm off, causing the men to run away in the direction of William Street.

“The suspects are described as being black, about 5ft 10in, of stocky build and wearing dark clothing. They were also wearing hooded tops and face coverings.
