The Gravesend British Heart Foundation (BHF) Furniture & Electrical store is appealing to residents to have a clear out and donate any unwanted household goods such as sofas, beds, dining tables, wardrobes and TVs.

The profits raised from donations will go into the fight against heart disease and fund the BHF’s lifesaving research.

All donations can be collected for free by calling 01474 444310.

All types of furniture and electrical items are needed, so rather than throwing out unwanted items or paying for them to be collected by the council, they could instead be donated to the BHF and help fund essential heart research.

Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer and last year BHF shops raised over £31 million in the fight for every heartbeat. Donations, which are vital to the charity, are desperately needed so that BHF researchers can continue their relentless search for breakthroughs to beat heart disease.

BHF area manager Mike Giblin said: “We absolutely rely on the support of the local community in Gravesend to keep us running and without their generous donations we risk reducing funding for vital research into heart disease.

“If each household were willing to spend just half an hour having a clear out and donating to their local BHF Furniture & Electrical store, they would be helping to save lives. It really is as simple as that! Please join the fight for every heartbeat and donate your unwanted household items to your local BHF store today.”

For those who are unable to donate, but would like to help in some other way, the shop is always looking for volunteers. Just pop into the shop or call 01474 444310 to find out how you can help. For more information on volunteering opportunities visit

The Gravesend BHF Furniture & Electrical store is at 61a New Road, Gravesend, DA11 0AE. To book a free collection for your unwanted items please call 01474 444310 or visit
