Crash between ‘car and a lorry’ kills 24-year-old man

The road was shut for nearly 12 hours

A Borough Green man has died following a crash between a lorry and a car in Wrotham on Tuesday afternoon.

Paramedics rushed the 24-year-old driver, named locally as Tom Greening, to Darent Valley Hospital with serious injuries, following the crash on Gravesend Road at around 1pm.

A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed he later died from his injuries.

Tributes to Tom Greening have surfaced online, with one person writing: “This world is so cruel another young life taken”, another friend wrote “Rip Tom Greening such a sad world”.

A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed: “His next of kin have been informed.”

A police car was “in the vicinity” of the crash, Kent Police have confirmed, with a spokesperson adding: “The matter has been referred to the Independent Police Complains Commission, as is mandatory practice in such circumstances.”

The Coroner’s Office confirmed it had received a report following the death.
