Plans to upgrade the Fairfield Pool and Leisure Centre will be revealed this month.

Dartford Council has arranged a chance to view and comment on plans for the new centre on Friday, February 14 at the Orchards Shopping Centre between 10am and 4pm.

There will be another opportunity at Fairfield Pool and Leisure Centre, Lowfield Street, from 6pm to 8pm.

Work on the renovation of Dartford’s popular swimming and fitness venue is expected to start on March 30 and last a year.

Council planners, though, are hoping the work will be completed in less than 12 months.

Cllr Andy Lloyd, cabinet member for sport and leisure, said: “Fairfield Pool is hugely popular but it has been serving the town for 40 years and now deserves a full overhaul and expansion.

“We are the sort of council that believes in investing in community facilities and when we open the new Fairfield in early 2015, it will be fit and ready for a whole new generation of users.”
