Shoppers were in for a shock when firefighters made a dramatic rescue at Bluewater, cutting an injured motorist free from an overturned crashed car.

But there was no need to worry as the mocked up incident was part of an exercise to promote road safety on Thursday.

Onlookers were able to witness the crash and see how Kent Fire and Rescue cut someone free from a vehicle. There was also an exhibition inside the shopping centre about road safety.
