THIS image of a man wanted in connection with the theft of a Poppy Appeal collection box has been released by police.

The CCTV image was recorded at the Wilkinson's store in the Thamesgate Centre, Gravesend, on Saturday, October 31.

Police released the image exclusively to the Reporter this week as they appealed for information.

They also confirmed they are investigating a similar theft at the Darnley Pharmacy, Pelham Road, Northfleet, on Monday, November 2.

Detective Inspector Ian Dampier, from North Kent's area crime unit, said: "Inquiries into both thefts are underway and I would ask anyone with information to get in touch.

"Crimes such as this are taken seriously and we will do all we can to find and then prosecute the person responsible.

"Only recently a 16-year-old found himself in court for stealing two poppy collection boxes from shops in Longfield. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 24 hours of training at a youth offender centre and ordered to pay £75 compensation."

Call the North Kent area crime unit on 01474 366091.
